The Punjab government has launched Pakistan’s first-ever WhatsApp chatbot dedicated to providing citizens with instant access to crucial information on air quality, smog alerts, and adverse weather conditions.

According to a statement released by Marriyum Aurangzeb on the social media platform X today, the new service allows residents to receive real-time updates directly on their mobile phones by sending a message to the number 0304-1373000. This platform is designed to deliver immediate data on the Air Quality Index (AQI), alongside environmental safety notifications and pertinent health advice to help individuals mitigate risks associated with poor air quality.

The initiative was introduced under the vision and direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The program aims to empower the public by making vital environmental information easily accessible.

This move marks a notable fusion of artificial intelligence technology with environmental care within the province. The stated goal of the administration is to leverage modern communication tools to better protect lives and advance the objective of creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the future.
