In a significant move to align academic practices with the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) revised BS curriculum, the University of Central Punjab is actively promoting AI-driven innovation by equipping its faculty with advanced machine learning capabilities, according to information today.
A specialized training session, titled “Practical Machine Learning Tools for Scientific Research,” was organized by the Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) to spearhead this initiative.
The workshop featured prominent experts, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, who serves as both the Director of ORIC and Head of the Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry, and Dr. Ali Saeed, an Associate Professor from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science.
Prof. Dr. Farrukh provided an insightful overview on the crucial task of structuring scientific data for machine learning applications. Following his presentation, Dr. Saeed conducted a hands-on training module using Google Colab, demonstrating practical approaches to data analysis and model building for participants.
Faculty members from various departments actively participated in the session. Attendees commended the initiative, highlighting its importance in fostering interdisciplinary learning and modernizing scientific research methods in line with contemporary technological advancements.
