In a spectacular display of young talent and competitive spirit, Zone Three Whites and Zone Six Blues strengthened their positions with consecutive victories in the Medicap Trophy Under-19 Interzonal Cricket Tournament. According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the tournament, organized under the supervision of the Regional Cricket Association Karachi and sponsored by the Medicap Group of Companies, saw the conclusion of three pivotal matches yesterday, leaving a significant mark on Karachi’s cricket scene.

The most thrilling moment unfolded at the KCCA Stadium where the match between Zone Three Whites and Zone Seven Blues was officiated by ICC panel umpire Salima Imtiaz, a historic first for Karachi. Zone Three Whites defeated Zone Seven Blues by 7 wickets. Batting first, Zone Seven Blues were all out for 142 runs, with Sahil scoring 51 and Arsalan Magsi 31. Off-spinner Muhammad Zunair Ali Khan took 4 wickets for 13 runs. In a successful chase, Zone Three Whites scored 145 for the loss of only 3 wickets. Salman Sarwar’s unbeaten 67, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes, along with Zunair’s 30 runs, secured the victory. Zunair was awarded the Medicap Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

At Anu Bhai Park Ground, Zone Two Whites defeated Zone One Blues by 78 runs. Batting first, Zone Two Whites scored 241 runs. Zain Jafri’s 67, Rashid Yasin’s 59, Haris Javed’s 45, and Abdul Rauf’s 21 runs played a crucial role. In their turn, Zone One Blues could only manage 163 runs. Aleem Mohsin’s 42 and Ashfaq Khan’s 26 were overshadowed by Saghir Ahmed’s 3 wickets for 23 runs. Zain Jafri’s commendable performance earned him the Medicap Man of the Match award.

Meanwhile, at Landhi Gymkhana Ground, Zone Six Blues defeated Zone Five Whites by 51 runs, marking their second consecutive victory in Group “B”. Malik Ashtar’s brilliant 81 runs, Rahmatullah’s 29, Fawad Akbar’s 25, and Atif Ali’s 20 runs took Zone Six Blues’ total to 214. Muhammad Hasnain’s impressive performance of 5 wickets for 34 runs proved crucial. In reply, Zone Five Whites scored 163, with Muhammad Shahzaib making 57 runs. Ibrahim Khan, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, and Fawad Akbar each took 2 wickets, while Hasnain was awarded the Medicap Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
