The Sindh Human Rights Department has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the continuous incidents of suicide across the district, including the case of three youths in Dano Dhandhal, Nagarparkar area of Tharparkar. On the immediate directive given on Wednesday by the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Human Rights, Rajveer Singh Sodha, the aim of this investigation is to conduct a detailed review of the increasing number of suicides in the area and to compile a comprehensive report.

An important meeting was held under the leadership of the Director of Human Rights, Agha Fakhar Hussain, in which the focal person for the Suicide Prevention Initiative (SPI), Ghulam Abbas Khoso, and various stakeholders participated. In this gathering, the circumstances of the incidents were reviewed in detail, and immediate intervention measures were considered.

It was unanimously decided that a fact-finding team be dispatched, comprising a psychologist, a sociologist, and representatives from the local administration and law enforcement agencies. This team will be responsible for conducting a detailed assessment and preparing a comprehensive report based on its findings.

Furthermore, the Directorate has decided to establish a special Coordination and Response Center under the SPI. The purpose of this center is to increase awareness, ensure better coordination, and provide immediate assistance to those in need.

Agha Fakhar Hussain emphasized the importance of every human life and reiterated the commitment to implementing the Sindh government’s compassionate and integrated strategies to reduce mental health pressures and social challenges.
