Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release and repatriation case to be heard by larger bench in Islamabad High Court tomorrow

The Islamabad High Court has set November 20 for the hearing of the petition concerning Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s health, release, and repatriation. The case, which also includes allegations that Dr. Siddiqui was subjected to sexual assault and severe torture during her imprisonment, will be heard by an extended four-member bench.

Aafia Movement Chairperson Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, in a statement on Tuesday, appealed to the public to pray for her sister’s safe release. She requested religious scholars, imams of mosques, and the public to arrange special prayers in mosques, offices, and homes for Dr. Aafia’s health, safety, and early return.

The judicial panel will be presided over by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir. The bench will also include Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, and Justice Inam Ameen Minhas.

Attorney Clive Stafford Smith will join the session online from the UK.
