The international community observed the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery on Tuesday, with a concentrated focus on the urgent need to eradicate contemporary forms of human exploitation.
This year’s observance highlights the fight against a range of severe abuses, including trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, and the worst forms of child labour.
Global attention is also directed towards dismantling systems of forced marriage and ending the forced recruitment of children for participation in armed conflicts.
