Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday acknowledged the pivotal contribution of Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in supporting the implementation of the government’s reform agenda, which he said paved the way for the nation’s economic development.
In a formal statement, the premier positioned the latest financial disbursement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as definitive proof of Pakistan’s progress in securing economic stability.
Mr Sharif highlighted the IMF’s expression of satisfaction with Pakistan’s economic measures as a clear testament to the diligent work of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and his financial team.
He recounted the difficult period when the country was steered from the brink of default towards stability, describing it as a challenging phase that demanded collective sacrifice from all segments of society. The Prime Minister noted that political parties sacrificed politics while the nation endured economic hardships to make the recovery possible.
The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction that Pakistan”s economic reforms and advancements in digitization have become a successful case study and an example for other nations.
While affirming that stability has been attained, Mr Sharif stressed that further efforts are still required to transition the economy toward a path of sustainable growth, expressing confidence that the dream of national economic development will soon be realized.
The premier reiterated his firm commitment to working for the prosperity of the populace and to completely freeing the country from foreign debt, voicing his belief that the time is not far when Pakistan will achieve complete economic self-sufficiency.
