Despite countless resources, the public is stuck in a swamp of problems: Pasban-e-Watan Pakistan

Pasban-e-Watan Pakistan’s central president Muhammad Tahir Khokhar has said that a comprehensive, long-term, and public-friendly policy is urgently needed to pull the state out of the current crisis, stating that the public is trapped in a “swamp of problems” due to serious systemic flaws.

He said in a statement today that despite the country having immense resources, the dream of development cannot be fulfilled without addressing these deep-rooted flaws in the system.

Tahir Khokhar attributed the continuous decline in the public’s standard of living to administrative weaknesses and the lack of solid future planning in state institutions. He said that due to the incompetence and negligence of these institutions, decades-old problems remain unresolved, while development projects are confined to paper only.

The political leader warned that when the basic needs of the public are not met, the state’s development process halts, and society falls into unrest. He mentioned the severe mental, economic, and social pressure on citizens, pointing to rising unemployment, frustration among youth, and the dilapidated state of basic sectors like education and health.

Furthermore, he said that basic facilities like water, electricity, gas, and roads are becoming out of reach for the common man. He likened the current system to a “push-start engine,” which has neither a clear direction nor a consistent speed.

Tahir Khokhar stressed that state institutions, the bureaucracy, and the government must understand that they are servants of the public, not masters. He added, “Modern governance, excellent policymaking, and advanced planning have become indispensable for serving the public and securing their future,” remarking that the world has moved forward while the nation is still busy fixing basic administrative issues.

Presenting a vision for the future, he said, “We want the people of the state to get their legitimate rights, all citizens to be equal in the eyes of the law, the state to develop, and the people to be prosperous.” He defined a strong nation as one where the common man has easy access to justice, employment, health, education, and other essential facilities.

He urged the government to implement economic reforms, bring institutional improvements, modernize the state according to contemporary needs, and adopt a clear and transparent strategy to provide relief to ordinary citizens. Utilizing the potential of youth and empowering women were also highlighted as important measures.

In the end, Tahir Khokhar warned that if the right direction is not chosen and reforms are not implemented today, future generations will also suffer from the same problems. He stressed the need for a united struggle, saying that no change is possible without practical steps.
