The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised a three-day visit by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to Sindh, aiming to intensify the party’s ongoing province-wide street movement amid what it terms a constitutional crisis and rising inflation.
According to a PTI statement issued today, the decision was cemented during a high-level meeting in Karachi following the arrival of PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja. He held detailed discussions with the party’s Sindh President, Haleem Adil Sheikh, and other regional leaders on the country’s political situation, public grievances, and the party’s continuing political strategy.
Scheduled from January 9 to 11, Chief Minister Afridi’s tour will include stops in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other cities. The primary objective is for him to engage directly with the public and convey a message from PTI Chairman Imran Khan related to the ongoing agitation.
Party leaders agreed during the talks to further organise and strengthen the protest campaign currently underway across the province.
Speaking after the deliberations, Haleem Adil Sheikh stated that the street campaign across Sindh is focused on securing the release of Imran Khan, upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law, and protesting against inflation. He asserted that the movement champions the basic rights of citizens and claimed public participation was growing.
Sheikh expressed his conviction that the chief minister’s visit would be historic and provide fresh momentum to the protests. The schedule is set to include public interactions, meetings with intellectuals, lawyers, and media representatives, and a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
According to the PTI Sindh president, all arrangements for the three-day tour have been completed, and the party plans to extend a significant welcome to the chief minister upon his arrival.
