Wing 999 and Umer Associate triumph in Inter-Departmental Cricket League Tournament

Shah Raza’s blistering unbeaten double century steered Wing 999 to a magnificent victory, while Arbaz Khan’s fine century secured a win for Umer Associates in the latest matches of the Wing 999 Inter-Departmental Cricket League Tournament.

In the first contest at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground on Tuesday, Wing 999 piled up a massive total of 382 for the loss of four wickets and then humbled Mesol Solar by a huge margin of 245 runs. The innings was dominated by Shah Raza, who put on a spectacular performance, remaining unbeaten with 203 runs off just 112 balls. His aggressive innings included 18 fours and 10 sixes.

He was well-supported by Abdullah Alam (58), Muhammad Afzal (48), Usman Rahim (33), and Saim Ahmed (24). For Mesol Solar, Ayish Malik was the most successful bowler with two wickets.

Chasing the mammoth target, Mesol Solar’s batting line crumbled, and the entire team was bundled out for 137 runs in 29.2 overs. Ghazanfar Yar Khan was the top scorer with 30 runs, followed by Aloz Khan (28) and Abdullah Javed (27). Wing 999’s bowling was led by Tariq Khan who took 3 for 24, and Ashiq Ali who claimed 3 for 28, with both bowlers bagging three wickets each.

Meanwhile, in another high-scoring encounter at the Gulberg Gymkhana Ground, Umer Associates defeated Epiform by 145 runs. Opting to bat first, Umer Associates scored 377 for seven. Their innings was anchored by a brilliant century from Arbaz Khan, who smashed 111 runs off 74 balls with the help of 17 fours and four sixes.

Other notable contributions came from Ashir Ahmed (81), Adeel Meo (80), Haris Shahid (47), and Qadir Khan (19). For Epiform, Ali Qureshi and Abdul Jalil each took two wickets.

In reply, Epiform could only manage 232 for eight, falling well short of the target. Shayan Ahmed showed significant resistance with 75 runs, while Muhammad Abuzar (48) and Abdullah Aziz (36) provided support. For Umer Associates, Jawad (3 for 33) and Moaz Khurram (3 for 49) were the standout bowlers.

The tournament is being organized by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi in collaboration with Wing 999 Sports.
