PTI Leader Slams Govt Over Political Victimisation, Warns of Failing Economy

A senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader on Wednesday denounced the ruling dispensation as completely incompetent, accusing it of political victimisation against the party’s founder, Imran Khan, and seizing power by stealing the public mandate.

In a press release, Faheem Khan, PTI Karachi’s Senior Vice President and a former MNA, made the remarks while welcoming the upcoming visit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi to Sindh, scheduled for January 9.

Khan stated that the chief minister’s visit would help strengthen the party’s public outreach as part of its ongoing street movement. He praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration, asserting it had taken practical steps for public welfare despite limited resources, setting an example for other provinces.

The former lawmaker strongly condemned what he termed ‘government excesses’ against Imran Khan and his family, describing the actions as unconstitutional and a ‘blatant violation of fundamental human rights.’ He added that targeting a popular political leader was a failed attempt to silence the voice of the people.

Referring to arrests, crackdowns, and curbs on freedom of expression against PTI members, Khan claimed that state repression reflected the government’s lack of public support. ‘When a government fails to deliver, it resorts to the use of force,’ he added.

Expressing grave concern over the economic situation, he said that rising inflation had eroded the purchasing power of ordinary citizens, while the government remained busy manipulating claims and statistics.

The PTI official also criticised the sharp increase in external borrowing, warning that such policies, which burden future generations, were against the national interest.

Faheem Khan alleged the government was formed through ‘Form 47 rigging’ and had failed in both economic management and providing public relief.

He concluded by reiterating that PTI would continue its struggle for the release of Imran Khan and all political prisoners, the supremacy of the Constitution and law, and the restoration of genuine democracy.
