A prominent scientific research institution and a leading international Islamic seminary have signed a formal agreement to collaborate on advancing Halal certification, research, and training initiatives. The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi and Jamia Binoria Aalamia (JBA) will pool their expertise in areas of mutual interest within the Halal industry.

According to ICCBS information today, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised at a ceremony held at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of ICCBS, and Sheikh Farhan Naeem, Vice President of Jamia Binoria Aalamia, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Shah highlighted the role of the Halal Certification, Testing and Research Services (HCTRS) at ICCBS, describing it as a highly productive centre offering a complete one-window solution for Halal certification, testing, and training. He noted that it is the country’s only public-sector research body providing such integrated services, committed to high-quality laboratory operations.

Prof. Shah further described the ICCBS as one of the nation’s largest research establishments and a leading centre of excellence in chemical, biological, and biochemical sciences, functioning as a hub for training scholars from around the world.

Jamia Binoria Aalamia”s Department of Fiqh-ul-Halal is recognised as a leading international seminary and academic institution.

The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation in academic, research, training, and technological domains. It specifically aims to engage faculty members, researchers, and professionals from both sides in the Halal sector and associated fields.

As part of the pact, personnel from both institutions will gain opportunities to participate in joint Halal audits, training programmes, research activities, conferences, and workshops. Furthermore, joint seminars will be organised, allowing experts from HCTRS-ICCBS to share their knowledge with the JBA community and vice versa.
