Iranian and Pakistani FMs Confer as Economic Protests Rock Nation

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has held discussions with his Pakistani counterpart, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, concerning the current situation in Iran, where widespread protests over severe economic hardships continue, as reported by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

According to an official report today, the demonstrations, which began in late December, were primarily sparked by a sharp depreciation of the national currency, escalating inflation, and various other economic difficulties facing the populace.

While reports of casualties have been circulating in connection with the unrest, official figures on the exact number remain undisclosed.

During their conversation, the two ministers exchanged views on regional matters, with the Pakistani minister expressing his hope for the continuation of peace and stability in the neighbouring country.

The officials concurred on maintaining bilateral consultations on issues of mutual interest. This dialogue follows a previous telephone conversation between the foreign ministers on January 13.
