The Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in several provinces and regions during the next twelve hours, due to which large parts of the country are bracing for adverse weather conditions.
According to the forecast made on Monday, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Upper and South Punjab, and Upper Sindh. Heavy snowfall is expected in the mountainous ranges of these areas.
This morning, cold was felt in major urban centers, with temperatures at several locations dropping below freezing point. The temperature was recorded at minus one in Quetta and Murree, while in Gilgit it was minus two degrees Celsius. The temperature in the capital Islamabad was six, nine in Lahore, eight in Peshawar, thirteen in Karachi, and two degrees Celsius in Muzaffarabad.
In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of rain with thunderstorms and snowfall. These weather conditions are expected in Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Srinagar, and Baramulla. In Jammu, there is a chance of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.
This morning, the temperature in the region was recorded below freezing point, with severe cold in Leh where the temperature was minus thirteen degrees Celsius. It was minus five in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Shopian, while minus four degrees Celsius was recorded in Anantnag and Baramulla. In contrast, the temperature in Jammu was seven degrees Celsius.
