University and Healthcare Firm Forge Alliance to Bridge Medical Tech Skills Gap

A new partnership between a major university and a private healthcare provider aims to address the critical need for practical, industry-relevant experience for medical laboratory technology (MLT) students, providing them with direct access to professional training and real-world diagnostic environments.

According to a statement today, the University of Central Punjab’s (UCP) Department of Microbiology has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infinity Health Care to establish a robust link between academia and the healthcare industry.

This strategic collaboration will create a framework for student internships, joint research initiatives, and organised industrial visits. The agreement also paves the way for jointly hosted seminars, workshops, and academic conferences, designed to enhance the educational experience.

Officials stated the initiative”s primary goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms and the practical demands of the professional world. The programme is expected to empower MLT students by equipping them with crucial industry skills and firsthand insight into clinical operations.

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions. Representing UCP were Dr Hafiza Rizwana Kausar, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; Dr Aatif Amin, Head of the Microbiology Department; Dr Mohsin Gulzar Barq, Assistant Professor and Faculty Industry Liaison Officer; and Ms Iqra Jamil, a lecturer.

Infinity Health Care was represented by Ms Sidra Shehzad, the Lab Manager, and Mr Naveed Elahi Nasr, the Business Development Director for Infinity Lab and Al Nasar Lab and Diagnostic Centre.
