Interior Minister Denounces Global ‘Moral Failure’ on Kashmir, Links Regional Peace to Dispute Resolution

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi today described the international community’s silence regarding the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people as a “serious moral failure,” asserting that the dream of lasting peace in the region cannot be realised without a resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

In a special message on Kashmir Solidarity Day, the minister expressed complete solidarity with the Kashmiri populace, stating that every child in Pakistan stands with them with “unwavering resolve.” He paid tribute to what he termed the “long struggle and unparalleled sacrifices” of the people of Kashmir.

According to Naqvi, the residents of “Indian-occupied Kashmir” have written a history of “steadfast resistance” against Indian administration and oppression for the past seven decades.

He noted that despite an environment of alleged “oppression, siege, and an atmosphere of fear,” the courage and spirit of freedom among the Kashmiri people remain alive.

The interior minister said that resolutions passed by the United Nations continue to affirm the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Naqvi affirmed that Pakistan raises, and will persist in raising, a strong voice for the “legitimate rights” of the Kashmiri people at every international forum.

He concluded that Kashmir Solidarity Day serves as a renewal of the pledge that the struggle will never be forgotten, expressing his belief that the sacrifices made “will not go in vain, and the dawn of freedom will surely rise one day.”
