Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STP) chief Dr. Qadir Magsi, while strongly criticizing the Peoples Party, has said that educated people must come forward to restore the dignity of the Sindhi nation. He alleged that the PPP’s 17-year rule has destroyed the nation’s honor, respect, and dignity. He stressed that restoring the Sindhi nation’s status now requires the active participation of its educated citizens.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after a meeting with District President Shahnawaz Siyal in Badin, Dr. Magsi claimed that the sanctity of the vote has been violated across the country. He argued that the people of Sindh can change their circumstances through the freedom of the vote and its proper use.
The STP leader lamented that elected representatives are involved in corruption worth billions of rupees instead of improving the lives of the people in their constituencies. He accused these officials of “showing no mercy to the poor people of Sindh,” stating that they embezzle funds allocated for essential services like health, education, clean drinking water, and infrastructure.
Dr. Magsi made specific allegations of bribery for government jobs, claiming that up to 6 million rupees are demanded for an ASI post and that educated individuals face “extraordinary humiliation” for positions like Patwari. He also criticized the lack of new industrial development in Sindh, stating that existing sugar mills and factories are closing down, leaving thousands of workers unemployed.
He maintained that the state is systematically weakening the people of Sindh and depriving them of their basic rights. Dr. Magsi declared Sindhis, Punjabis, Pashtuns, and Baloch as the “real owners” of the country, whom he described as being exploited by corrupt elements within the “obsolete system.”
He specifically urged the educated class to overcome fear and greed and lead the struggle for restoring electoral integrity and national dignity, offering the STP as a platform for this movement.
Discussing foreign policy, Dr. Magsi also criticized those figures who had previously termed the conflict in Afghanistan a “war of Islam,” saying they showed their “true colors” by not objecting when the US later declared it a war for its own interests against Russia.
Several other STP leaders were also present on the occasion, including Dr. Soomar Mangrio, Ali Haider Panhwar, Riaz Mustafa Arain, Gul Muhammad Shah, Aslam Mehmood, Sultan Bohar, Abdullah Awan, Dilbar Lond, and Yasir Siyal.
