The University of Central Punjab (UCP) is advancing plans to establish a dedicated company for its space technology and is moving to commercialise a new line of nutraceuticals, signalling a significant strategic shift towards monetising its research innovations.
The ambitious proposals were tabled during a pivotal meeting organised by the institution’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) today. The session, chaired by Pro-Rector Dr. Hammad Naveed, was convened to review the commercial progress of two of the university”s flagship research arms.
Dr. Muhammad Kamran Saleem, who leads the Space Research Center (SRC-UCP), outlined a multi-faceted strategy that includes creating indigenous educational satellite kits, running space camps, and offering hardware-based training programmes. The centre is also actively pursuing national and international grants to support its growth.
In a separate presentation on the Nutraceuticals Initiative, Dr. Huma Hameed detailed the development of products focused on preventive healthcare. The initiative”s roadmap involves extensive planning for distributor engagement, financial modelling, and the establishment of regulatory compliance frameworks.
Further discussions on the health supplement venture covered critical business aspects such as assessing market competitiveness and finalising a comprehensive plan for scaling up production.
