Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday warned that the government will be held solely responsible for any harm that befalls the party’s founder, Imran Khan, as they voiced grave concerns over his health and demanded his immediate transfer to a hospital.
Senior party figures called for Khan’s comprehensive medical examination and provision with premier healthcare facilities, stressing the need for a complete and transparent medical report to be made public.
PTI Sindh Vice President Rizwan Niazi stated that the lack of information surrounding Mr Khan’s condition had raised serious questions, asserting that the nation had a right to be informed. He insisted on immediate medical access for the party chairman, framing it as a fulfilment of humanitarian obligations.
“If, God forbid, any harm comes to Imran Khan, the responsibility will rest with the government,” Mr Niazi was quoted as saying, adding that the nation would not accept any compromise on its leader’s health.
Separately, PTI Karachi Senior Vice President Mansoor Ahmed Sheikh demanded that Mr Khan be granted prompt access to his personal physicians and urged the authorities to cease politicising the matter.
Describing the former premier as a “national asset”, Mr Sheikh warned that any form of negligence in his care would be “unforgivable,” noting that the entire country remains deeply worried about his wellbeing.
Both officials concluded by calling on the government to abandon what they described as a policy of political victimisation and to take urgent, decisive action to ensure Mr Khan receives appropriate medical attention.
