Karachi’s Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad has given a blunt response to Farooq Sattar, saying that those who have pushed the city into the “fire of linguistic politics” in the past are now giving inappropriate lectures on morality.
In his statement today, Murad challenged Sattar to account for his past before criticizing the Peoples Party.
Comparing his party’s record, the Deputy Mayor presented the arrest of Chotu gang members as proof that the Peoples Party does not engage in the politics of protecting criminals.
He dismissed the recent debate regarding the president’s resignation as mere “political point-scoring”.
Murad stressed that Karachi is a “city of conscious people” and does not need to be saved by any party or individual.
The Deputy Mayor said that the Peoples Party has stood with the people of Karachi in every difficult time.
He presented his party’s “eighteen-year performance” for public scrutiny and cited development projects as clear evidence of their work.
In a pointed remark, Murad said that those who are advising others to change names have a history of changing the names and directions of their own political affiliations.
He concluded by saying that the Peoples Party believes in public service, not the politics of blame, and the city wants stability and progress, not chaos.
