Lahore University Breaks into Top 150 Global Band in Latest QS Subject Rankings

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has achieved a significant milestone for Pakistani higher education, securing a position within the 101-150 global band for a subject area in the newly released QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. This places it among a select few national institutions to reach this tier.

The university said in a statement today that it has been recognised as the leading national institution in multiple disciplines. It holds the top position in Pakistan for Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, and Social Sciences, while sharing the premier rank for Economics.

Further commendations in the rankings highlight the institution’s developing strength in Modern Languages and Politics, underscoring the quality of its humanities and social sciences programme.

The QS subject rankings are compiled using several indicators, including academic and employer reputation, research impact, and international collaboration. The university”s performance across these areas is noted as a reflection of its faculty strength, research quality, and the rigour of its academic offerings.

This year”s rankings feature more than 35 universities from Pakistan, indicating a growing presence on the international stage. This progress highlights the need for continued investment to enhance quality, accessibility, and research capacity within the nation”s higher education sector, which remains a key national priority.
