The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) concluded trading on Friday with the US dollar being sold for over PKR 280 in the open market, while the British Pound Sterling was quoted above the 372 mark, according to official figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan.
In the open currency market, the American dollar recorded a buying rate of PKR 279.23 and a selling rate of PKR 280.18. These figures represent a slight premium over the interbank market, where the greenback was pegged at 279.10 for buying and 279.30 for selling.
Amongst leading European currencies, the Euro demonstrated considerable strength, with its buying and selling values standing at PKR 321.18 and PKR 324.56, respectively. The Pound Sterling was the most expensive unit, being purchased at PKR 368.65 and sold at PKR 372.50.
The Japanese Yen was valued at PKR 1.73 for buying and PKR 1.79 for selling.
Exchange rates for key Middle Eastern currencies were also provided, with the UAE Dirham (AED) quoted at PKR 75.94 (buying) and PKR 76.86 (selling). The Saudi Riyal (SR) was noted at PKR 74.21 for buying and PKR 75.04 for selling.
