Pakistan’s Climate Vulnerability Prompts Leaders’ Call for Robust Environmental Protection

Pakistan stands among the nations most acutely affected by climate change, a pressing issue that has galvanised both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to underscore the imperative for robust measures to protect Earth and its vital resources. The leaders conveyed their distinct messages today, commemorating International Mother Earth Day.

President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s deeply rooted commitment to the principles of enduring growth and ecological guardianship. He appealed to every citizen, community, and institution to fulfil their role in these critical efforts.

He also advocated for a collective commitment to cultivate more flora, minimise plastic refuse, adopt eco-friendly methodologies, and inform young people about the profound significance of ecological preservation. A more pristine, verdant Pakistan, he asserted, is not merely a necessity but a solemn obligation owed to forthcoming generations.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted that Pakistan’s significant vulnerability to global climatic shifts further fortifies the nation”s determination to conserve the planet”s intrinsic elements. He noted that escalating extreme weather events and uncommon fluctuations serve as unequivocal signs of environmental degradation.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the Government of Pakistan is actively undertaking initiatives to safeguard environmental assets, vegetation, and the wider ecosystem. These efforts also encompass addressing global warming and fostering sustainable power sources.
