Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has called upon the nation”s universities to assume a proactive role in confronting socio-economic challenges and instilling values of tolerance and civic responsibility in students, framing it as a critical part of their mandate.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting in Lahore with the Vice Chancellors from a number of tertiary education institutions, according to information today. Mr Gilani reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support for higher education establishments to achieve academic distinction and global competitiveness.
The dialogue encompassed a range of subjects, including strategies for advancing academic performance and fostering institutional development. The Acting President emphasised the pivotal function of universities, describing them as vital engines for intellectual advancement, innovation, and the country”s overall progress.
He further highlighted the need for academic bodies to champion entrepreneurship and cultivate an atmosphere of inclusivity and social duty among the student population.
