The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced that Fatima Sana will captain the national women’s cricket team for the tri-series in Ireland and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales. The 15-member squad, announced today, will participate in both the prestigious tournaments.
The tri-series, set to take place in Dublin from 28 May to 4 June, will see Pakistan face off against hosts Ireland and the West Indies. This event serves as a precursor to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, commencing on 12 June and concluding on 5 July, providing the teams with a vital opportunity to fine-tune their skills.
Notably, five players-Eyman Fatima, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Saira Jabeen, and Tasmia Rubab-are poised to make their debut in the T20 World Cup. Captain Fatima Sana, at 24, will lead the team for the second consecutive tournament, having previously captained in the UAE in 2024.
The squad”s announcement follows Pakistan”s triumphant T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe in Karachi, showcasing the team”s readiness for upcoming challenges.
Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan will engage in two warm-up fixtures against Sri Lanka and Scotland on 6 June and 9 June in Derby, respectively. These matches are critical for acclimatising to the playing conditions in England and Wales.
Pakistan”s World Cup campaign begins with a high-stakes match against arch-rivals India on 14 June at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Subsequent matches include encounters with South Africa, Bangladesh, Australia, and the Netherlands, with the group stage concluding on 27 June.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for 30 June and 2 July, culminating in the final at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on 5 July.
