Shortage of science teachers in Sindh schools, demonstration by IBA test-passed science candidates in Badin

Newly graduated science candidates from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) are expressing concern over the limited availability of teaching positions in Sindh. Gathered in front of the Badin Press Club, these graduates today demanded the Sindh government to advertise 15,000 junior science teacher positions, which is significantly higher than the currently offered 1,237 positions.

The demonstrators, including prominent voices like Zakir Hussain, Yasir Ali, and Atta Muhammad, expressed frustration over the shortage of teachers in science fields. Despite the presence of fully equipped science and computer laboratories in several schools in Sindh, students are missing out on essential scientific education due to an insufficient number of teaching staff.

A key demand of the demonstrators is to reduce the passing marks for the IBA test to 40, to broaden the scope of eligible candidates for recruitment. They also urge the abolition of the old waiting list from 2021, and demand the issuance of a new merit list to ensure the fair selection of current candidates.

Furthermore, the allocation of only 35 teaching positions to the Badin district was deemed insufficient for local youth, who are eager to contribute to the educational development of their community. The demonstrators warned that their protest actions might intensify if these legitimate demands are not met.
