A notable media literacy session was held today at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, aimed at equipping students with the ability to distinguish between credible and non-credible information.

Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Yousuf Khushk, the purpose of this session was to create an informed young group capable of responsible media engagement. The event, organized by Syeda Shamaila Rubab Rizvi and Saadia Lark, educated participants on media literacy, identification of fake news, ethical communication, and information verification.

Participants demonstrated strong engagement, acquiring practical skills to verify information and ensure the dissemination of accurate news. This session was part of the initiative “Strengthening the Capacities and Engagement of Media Professionals for the Promotion of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms,” implemented with the support of the European Union by the Center for Peace and Development Initiative (CPDI) and Individual Land (IL).

He pointed out that such initiatives promote critical thinking and encourage peaceful and responsible citizenship behavior among students.

The event also saw the participation of PMYDC volunteer students, who played a significant role in the success of the program. Dr. Lashari thanked CPDI and the European Union and acknowledged the efforts of the volunteers.

At the conclusion of the session, students pledged to use media positively, prevent misinformation, and actively work to promote accurate and responsible information within their communities.
