On the instructions of Mayor Abdul Rauf Ghori, the Municipal Corporation has started comprehensive cleaning of wells at all disposal pumping stations across the city from today, with heavy machinery being used to remove accumulated debris.
This measure has been taken in response to the Meteorological Department’s forecasts, which predict imminent monsoon rains. The Mayor emphasized the need to improve the urban drainage infrastructure to ensure efficient flow of drainage in case of potential water accumulation.
This operation is being conducted in phases, involving the removal of waste material and soil from the wells, to allow rainwater to be transferred seamlessly into the main drains, thus avoiding disruptions in the drainage system.
Mayor Ghori has instructed the concerned officers and staff to monitor the cleaning activities on a daily basis, highlighting the importance of completing this process promptly. This measure is aimed at preventing inconvenience to residents during the monsoon and keeping the city’s drainage capabilities fully operational.
