The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors on Monday unanimously approved a surplus budget for the 2026-27 financial year, endorsing a series of financial and administrative measures aimed at strengthening domestic cricket, enhancing player remuneration, and upgrading cricket infrastructure across the country.
At its 84th meeting, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the Board approved a PKR 1 billion increase in the domestic cricket budget, raising the total allocation from PKR 3 billion to PKR 4 billion. The decision reflects the Board’s continued focus on expanding investment in Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure.
The Board also approved the budget for the 12th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) and endorsed a proposal granting the league greater administrative and financial autonomy to improve its operational efficiency.
In another key decision, the Board approved a new framework for central contracts and a revised payment mechanism. Match fees for Pakistan’s national men’s cricket team players were increased, while significant raises were also approved for domestic cricketers competing in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Under the revised structure, match fees for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy players will rise from PKR 30,000 to PKR 100,000 per match. Reserve players will also benefit from a substantial increase, with their match fees climbing from PKR 15,000 to PKR 50,000 per match.
To promote women’s cricket, the Board sanctioned funding for the organization of Women’s One-Day and T20 tournaments, approving the necessary financial resources for both competitions.
The meeting further approved a minimum monthly salary of PKR 42,000 for regional ground staff as part of efforts to strengthen cricket operations nationwide. Funding was also sanctioned to operationalize 12 additional cricket grounds and recruit the required workforce.
The Board allocated PKR 6.70 billion for the renovation and modernization of the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi, along with other cricket infrastructure projects across Pakistan. It also approved funding for the installation of a state-of-the-art biomechanics machine at the High Performance Centre in Lahore.
The Board of Governors also ratified the decisions taken during its previous meeting.
During the session, PCB Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza presented a detailed overview of the 2026-27 budget, outlining its principal financial features, projected expenditures, and revenue outlook.
The meeting was attended by Board members Anwar Ghani, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Ismail Qureshi, Sajjad Khokhar, Tanveer Ahmed, and Adnan Malik.
