Gilani Receives Guard of Honour in Tehran

Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, arrived in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where he was accorded an official welcome by the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and presented with a Guard of Honour. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was also present alongside the Chairman Senate.

Following the reception, Gilani held a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, and a wide range of issues of mutual interest in detail.

After the meeting, Gilani and the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament jointly addressed a press conference, where they reaffirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral engagement and enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, senior officials of the Pakistan Embassy, and high-ranking Iranian officials were present to receive the Chairman Senate upon his arrival.

Gilani also met political leaders, representatives of civil society, religious scholars, and members of the media. On the occasion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran, expanding parliamentary exchanges, and enhancing bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.
