Police Recover Hijacked Trailer Loaded with Fabric Worth R700M

Khairpur Police carried out a major overnight operation and recovered a trailer loaded with imported fabric worth Rs700 million that had been hijacked a few days earlier.

The trailer, carrying imported fabric valued at PKR 700 million, had been hijacked within the jurisdiction of Babarlo Police Station.

According to police today, five suspects intercepted the trailer, which was travelling from Karachi to Lahore, near Babarlo in Khairpur. They took control of the vehicle and moved it to an undisclosed location. The suspects removed and discarded the trailer’s tracking device before fleeing with the cargo.

After unloading the goods, the suspects abandoned the empty trailer in Shikarpur district and escaped. Khairpur Police later recovered the trailer during an operation. With the assistance of a modern information technology team, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Babarlo Police Station conducted a raid in the Sukkur Site Area and also recovered the stolen imported fabric worth PKR 700 million.

During the preliminary investigation, police arrested Asim, an employee of a private company. Police said the crime had been carried out under a well-planned scheme. A case has been registered at Babarlo Police Station, and raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects, the SHO said.
