Sindh Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani conducted a detailed visit to the Karachi Fish Harbour on Wednesday.
During the visit, he inspected various sections of the harbour and comprehensively reviewed the administrative arrangements, facilities provided to fishermen, cleanliness, security protocols, and ongoing development initiatives. On the occasion, the provincial minister issued strict directives to the relevant authorities, emphasizing that the cleanliness system, basic amenities, security, and overall administrative affairs at the fish harbour must be further improved and streamlined.
He added that these measures were essential to provide a safe, well-equipped, and conducive environment for fishermen and other stakeholders associated with the fisheries sector.
While speaking to the media, Malkani said that the Sindh government was taking effective and far-reaching measures to modernize the fish harbour, increase seafood exports, ensure the welfare of fishermen, and promote the marine economy (Blue Economy). He said that improving the Karachi Fish Harbour system would not only strengthen the fisheries sector but also contribute significantly to the stability of the provincial economy.
During the visit, Managing Director (MD) Karachi Fish Harbour Zahid Khemtio, Director General Marine Fisheries Asim Karim, Deputy Secretary Livestock Muhammad Imran, Dr. Shaneed, and other senior officials of the relevant departments were also present. They gave the provincial minister a detailed briefing on the harbour’s operations.
