Sindh government adviser for Rehabilitation Giyan Chand Essarani today paid tribute to paramedics on International Paramedics Day, praising their role in saving lives during emergencies and reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening emergency and community healthcare services.
In a message issued to mark the occasion, Essarani said paramedics serving with the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122 Sindh), Mobile Health and Diagnostic Services Sindh, and other emergency healthcare organisations had made an invaluable contribution to society through their dedication and professionalism.
He said paramedics and emergency medical technicians of Rescue 1122 Sindh provided immediate medical assistance to victims across the province during emergencies. According to him, administering first aid at accident scenes, stabilising patients and ensuring their timely transportation to hospitals required a high degree of professionalism and responsibility, responsibilities that Rescue 1122 personnel continued to discharge with commitment and efficiency.
Essarani said the performance of Rescue 1122 paramedics during Muharram, heavy rainfall, floods, road accidents and other emergencies had been commendable. He added that their contribution to protecting lives and property remained invaluable during crises across the province.
The adviser also praised the work of paramedical staff serving with Mobile Health and Diagnostic Services Sindh, saying the programme was delivering healthcare to residents of remote, underdeveloped and medically underserved areas. He noted that paramedics, nurses and medical assistants working in mobile health units were providing thousands of people with basic medical check-ups, diagnostic services, medicines and health consultations, particularly benefiting women, children, senior citizens and low-income communities.
Referring to this year’s International Paramedics Day theme, “Innovate and Integrate,” Essarani said it underscored the importance of adopting modern technology, promoting professional excellence and integrating healthcare services. He added that innovation and greater coordination within emergency healthcare systems were making medical services more efficient, accessible and responsive to the needs of the public. He also reiterated the government’s resolve to further strengthen emergency medical response and community healthcare services across Sindh.
