Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar engaged in an important dialogue with United Nations Secretary-General candidate Michelle Bachelet on global peace initiatives and developmental strategies today.
During the meeting, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law. He emphasized that the United Nations should enhance its role to better meet the needs of developing countries and stressed the importance of implementing Security Council resolutions to ensure lasting global peace.
Dar specifically highlighted regional conflicts in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, emphasizing that they should be resolved according to United Nations resolutions. According to him, this approach is essential for achieving sustainable peace and stability.
In response, Michelle Bachelet praised Pakistan’s active efforts for regional peace and stability. She acknowledged and valued the country’s contributions to the United Nations and its global missions.
The meeting highlighted mutual interest in advancing dialogue and cooperation on international issues and laid the foundation for stronger partnerships aimed at promoting a more peaceful global community.
