Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held discussions on important matters today with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev. The meeting focused on further strengthening cooperation among member states in key sectors such as the economy, transport, and connectivity.
During the meeting, both parties explored various regional and global issues, with Yermekbayev praising Pakistan”s positive role in fostering regional peace, stability, and collaboration. Yermekbayev also presented his insights and suggestions for enhancing the SCO”s operational efficiency and effectiveness, while providing an update on the preparations for the upcoming SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This forthcoming gathering is expected to further solidify the organisation”s strategic objectives and collaborative efforts.
Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan”s firm dedication to furthering the SCO”s mission, expressing eagerness to engage with all member nations as Pakistan prepares to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State in September 2026, followed by hosting the SCO Summit in 2027. This commitment highlights Pakistan’s pivotal role in shaping the future trajectory of the organisation.
