The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW and SC) continued its anti-encroachment operation at the Qasba Reservoir in Block T, North Nazimabad for a fifth consecutive day, reclaiming additional government land from illegal occupiers as authorities intensified efforts to protect public property and critical water infrastructure.
According to KW and S information today, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner District Central Taha Saleem, with officials from KW and SC, the district administration, police and other relevant departments taking part.
According to the KW and SC spokesperson, the latest phase of the campaign resulted in the demolition of more unauthorized structures built on government land, allowing further public property to be recovered.
The water utility spokesperson said the campaign is aimed at protecting government land from illegal occupation and safeguarding key installations linked to Karachi’s water supply system. KW and SC also acknowledged the support of the district administration, police and other institutions, saying their coordinated efforts have enabled the operation to proceed effectively.
Reaffirming its stance against illegal occupations, the corporation said no encroachment on public land would be tolerated. It added that enforcement actions would continue under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation Act 2023, the Sindh Public Property (Removal of Encroachment) Act 2010 and other applicable laws.
The KW and SC spokesperson further announced that the anti-encroachment campaign would be expanded next week to include KW and SC land in Gharo, Thatta district, as well as other corporation-owned properties. The operation, the spokesperson said, would continue without interruption until all public land was fully restored for its intended public purpose
