On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed, the District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) on Wednesday launched a major crackdown against transport operators under the smog policy, resulting in the suspension of operations for five vehicles.

This action was taken under the directive of the Punjab government to enforce a strict policy to control smog. Teams led by Secretary Regional Transport Authority Aksha Riaz conducted a series of inspections at various locations. During these inspections, fines were imposed on vehicles that were emitting excessive smoke, operating without proper fitness certification, or violating other environmental regulations.

Aksha Riaz emphasized the importance of adhering to government directives to combat the smog issue, and stated that vehicles contributing to pollution and not meeting standards will be removed from the roads. She urged all transport operators to ensure the fitness of their vehicles and strictly follow environmental laws.
