After a significant 14-year suspension, direct air travel between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been re-established, marking a pivotal moment in bilateral relations with the launch of the first flight from Dhaka to Karachi.
The inaugural service departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, where a ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion, according to information by MOIB today.
Addressing the ceremony, Bashir Uddin, the Bangladeshi Adviser for Civil Aviation and Tourism, highlighted the strategic importance of the route. He emphasised its potential to significantly enhance connectivity, boost tourism, and fortify the personal ties between the citizens of both nations.
The Pakistani High Commissioner in Dhaka, Imran Haider, also spoke at the event, extending his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority, which were instrumental in making the resumption of the service possible.
