Pakistan Basketball Federation Secretary Colonel Naseem Butt has returned after visits to Malaysia and Singapore to promote international cooperation in the sport.
Colonel Naseem Butt met with representatives of basketball organizations in both countries to discuss development and mutual cooperation opportunities.
A key outcome of these discussions is the announcement of the All Pakistan Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Basketball Tournament to be held in Karachi in December. A Malaysian squad will also participate in this competition.
Colonel Butt also revealed the establishment of the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s companion Sardar Ghulam Mohammad Mehr Performance Basketball Awards, which will be presented at the closing ceremony of the tournament.
In a separate development, a committee has been formed to oversee the elections of all Sindh Basketball Associations in October, which will subsequently pave the way for elections at the Sindh level.
This committee will be headed by Karachi’s Muhammad Haider Khan, and its members include Akhtar Ali Abbasi (Larkana), Younis Qureshi (Benazirabad), Farrukh Habib (Hyderabad), Faisal Memon (Mirpurkhas), and Engineer Sanjay Kumar (Sukkur).
