All Set to Hold Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs on Feb 17

The 773rd annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will commence on February 17, 2025, in Sehwan Sharif and continue until February 19. The three-day event is expected to draw thousands of devotees, with arrangements in place to ensure smooth proceedings.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori will inaugurate the Urs by laying floral wreaths at the shrine, while Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will conclude the ceremonies on the final day.

According to a statement by Chairman Shahbaz Mela Committee, all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate visitors. The event will feature cultural and literary programs, including the Shahbaz Award distribution ceremony, which will be held at Shahbaz Auditorium on the last day to honor outstanding contributions in various fields.

Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, will inaugurate the traditional Malakhra (wrestling) competition. The Sindh Department of Culture, under the leadership of Director General Munawar Ali Mahesar and Deputy Director Saleem Solangi, will organize folk music performances, a literary conference, a Sindhi storytelling session, and a handicrafts exhibition.

Strict security arrangements have been implemented. SSP Jamshoro Muhammad Zafar Siddique said more than 5,000 police personnel, along with Rangers and plainclothes security officers, will be deployed. Activities will be monitored through CCTV cameras, walkthrough gates, and a central control room.

Pakistan Navy personnel will oversee Aral Wah and Danistar Wah canals to prevent any incidents. Section 144 has been imposed, restricting bathing in these canals and heavy traffic movement during the Urs.
