Allegations of irregularities and misuse of power against municipal administration – Demand for investigation

A young laborer from Khairpur, Syed Majid Ali Shah, has accused the Khairpur municipal administration of serious irregularities and misuse of power.

Addressing the media at the Khairpur Press Club on Tuesday, Shah alleged that the municipal leadership has broken all records of corruption. He claimed that the municipal administration has established illegal encroachments in key commercial areas of Khairpur city, including Panj Gulla Chowk, Panjhatti Chowk, Luqman Phatak Chowk, Chatti Chowk, and Civil Hospital Road, and has continued the practice of monthly and weekly extortion.

He further disclosed that as a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party and an unemployed youth, he started a business by placing a cabin near CID Mor. However, when he refused to comply with the extortion demands of the municipal staff, his property was confiscated. Shah accused Chairman Dr. Yar Muhammad Phulpoto and his associates of dismantling and seizing his cabin and goods.

Despite numerous protests and rallies, Shah claimed he was denied justice, forcing him to take legal action. After filing a case in court, Shah alleges that municipal officials removed goods worth two lakh rupees from his cabin and forced him to record a video statement saying, “I have got my cabin back,” before returning the empty cabin.

Majid Shah further alleged that the municipal staff later repossessed his cabin, and efforts are underway to file a false case against him in court. He vowed to continue his struggle against the allegedly corrupt and extortionist chairman and promised to seek justice through legal channels, the media, and relevant authorities.

In his concluding remarks, Syed Majid Ali Shah appealed to the Provincial Minister for Local Government, IG Sindh, DIG Sukkur, and SSP Khairpur to take notice of the situation, provide justice, and ensure the protection of his life and property.
