Educational institutions are dealing with the growing trend of drug use among youth, especially in academic environments, a concerning issue highlighted in a recent awareness seminar at Sindh Agricultural University Tandojam. The event was titled “Say No to Drugs, Love Life,” organized today in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force, which drew attention to the harmful effects of intoxicants and society’s crucial role in their prevention.
Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, Vice Chancellor, addressing the participants, assured that the university administration is taking sincere and practical steps to protect students from the dangerous habit of illegal drug use. He emphasized the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on drug prevention on campus and supported the regular organization of awareness campaigns, workshops, and counseling sessions, which also include mental health issues.
Dr. Siyal appealed to students not only to stay away from this evil themselves but also to play an active role in protecting their peers. He warned that drug use not only destroys an individual’s health but also severely affects academic performance and future life opportunities.
Muhammad Salman, Assistant Director Anti-Narcotics Force, explained that dangerous intoxicants, such as “ice,” have rapidly engulfed the younger generation, posing a serious threat to their well-being and future. He encouraged students to actively participate in the ongoing campaign against drugs and to constructively use social media to spread this important message.
Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Director Student Teachers Linkages Program (STEP), said that youth are a valuable asset, and protecting them from the scourge of drugs is a shared responsibility. He urged educational institutions to continue organizing such awareness activities to provide timely advice to their students.
