Burhan Muzaffar Wani’s ninth death anniversary was observed at a seminar in Karachi, with speakers hailing him as a symbol of Kashmiri resistance. The event, titled “Martyr’s Death is the Life of a Nation,” was organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir, at the Haseena Moin Hall.
Sindh Provincial Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani praised Wani’s bravery and urged Pakistani youth to learn from his life. He highlighted Kashmir’s 78-year struggle, emphasizing Benazir Bhutto’s global advocacy and condemning India’s accusations against Pakistan following the Pulwama attack. He commended the Pakistani army’s actions in bolstering Kashmiri morale and responding to India.
Hurriyat Conference Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi declared that Wani’s sacrifice wouldn’t be forgotten. He stressed choosing the right path and highlighted India’s military activities in Gaza and Palestine. Safi refuted notions of Pakistan abandoning the Kashmir cause and reiterated its full support.
Syed Yusuf Naseem presented Wani as a scholar and emphasized every Kashmiri child’s role in the freedom movement. Syed Pervaiz Shah discussed Wani’s innovative use of online platforms to support and motivate youth, stressing Kashmir’s significance to Pakistan.
Sardar Umme Kalsoom expressed hope while lamenting the limitations of conferences and the UN’s inaction on Kashmir. Others, including Sardar Nazakat, praised Kashmiri bravery, Iqbal Kashmiri highlighted Wani’s inspirational role, and Sardar Saghir urged remembering past sacrifices.
Nadim Awan praised Wani’s digital activism, while Talha Ahmad Khan emphasized Kashmiri resolve, calling Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a threat to Pakistan, Palestine, Kashmir, and even India itself, urging practical action beyond gatherings. Muhammad Arshad Sher Baloch, inspired by youth fervor and Wani’s sacrifice, stressed unity.
