Pakistan Army Medical Corps organises ‘Gift of Life’ golf tournament

Rawalpindi, February 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Army Medical Corps organised ‘Gift of Life’ (Deceased Donor Programme) golf tournament at Rawalpindi. Event aimed at highlighting importance and awareness about ‘Deceased Donor Program’ (Liver, Kidney and Eye). Surgeon General Pakistan Army apprised audiences about the program. Thousands of lives are lost every year on account of organ failure and scarcity of potential donors. Within the framework of Human Organ Transplant Authority, Deceased Donor Program will save precious lives. Pakistan Army Medical Corps plans to carry forward the program at national level through integrated execution.

Consensus amongst Political Parties Essential for Economic Development: Governor Sindh

Karachi, February 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Mr.Mohammed Zubair has said that as the next general elections are round the corner all major political parties must focus on their economic agenda with a clear vision of moving forward in the right direction by making maximum use of hard work put in by present Government. This he said while addressing a consultative meeting of CEO Club at a local hotel here this morning. Mr. Ikram Saigal, Mr. Shabbar Zaidi, Dr.Huma Baqai, Ms. Sultana Siddiqui, Mr.Javed Akai, Mr.Aijaz Nisar and prominent CEO’s were also present on the occasion.

Governor Sindh said that our collective focus should be on economy as the future progress and prosperity lies in strong economy. All political parties must unite and make coordinated efforts to showcase Pakistan to the global community, he opined.

Mr.Zubair further said that opposition for the sake of opposition must be avoided and the next Government and opposition must work together to nullify the negative perception of our Country. The recent example of world economic forum in Devos, must be followed when and where possible, where Prime Minister Mr.Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared the stage there and spoke about the real picture of Pakistan which is far better than reality, he added.

Governor Sindh said that there should be no politics when it comes to national cause and interests and we must all present case of Pakistan with one united voice, to show the world that there is no difference amongst us when it comes to national integrity and solidarity. He also said that economic decisions must be left for the experts and there should be no influence or pressure from the Government in this regard. When economic experts independently make a decision, by considering and following all required procedures it would be beneficial for our economy, he observed.

He said that present Government, has performed exceptionally well on the economic front considering all sorts of hurdles it faced during the tenure. The scenario of 2013 has been changed with considerable improvement in law and order, energy situation and investment opportunities, he added. He said that Karachi has been completely transformed during present Government’s tenure as compared with 2013 improvement. Back then, no foreigner was willing to come here even on a day trip owning to the uncertainty which prevailed, he added.

Governor Sindh said that with the determination, support and pledge of Government and untiring efforts of our law enforcement agencies, Karachi was now returning to its past glory. Social, cultural, economic, literary and sports activities are in full swing here and Karachiites are enjoying their daily routine without any fear, he observed. While lauding the initiative of Pakistan pavilion at Devos, Governor Sindh said that such endeavours are essential to showcase Pakistan at world stage. It is true that perception takes a while to be corrected but we must continue to work to propagate reality about Pakistan, he opined.

He said CPEC is a game changer in real sense as it would not only transform our infrastructure but would also facilitate accelerated pace of development. Its energy projects are key to our economic progress and would contribute towards making Pakistan an energy surplus Country, he added. Governor Sindh appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ikram Saigal, Mr. Aijaz Nisar and others and hoped that the same would continue in future also. Governor Sindh while lauding the efforts of CEOs in economy of Pakistan asked them to highlight the narrative of Pakistan at every stage.

NAB continues to performing its official duties in accordance with law by upholding transparency and merit despite adverse circumstances

Islamabad, February 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): NAB would continue to performing its official duties in accordance with law by upholding transparency and merit despite adverse circumstances. Threats, protests and browbeating could not stop NAB from performing its legal obligations. Ahad Cheema has been apprehended as per law after completion of all Vidal formalities on the basis of solid evidence against him. A complete report of the circumstances would be presented after expiry of his remand in Accountability Court. Despite various accusations, NAB would not reply the critics as the matter is subjudice. However, NAB assures that he will continue to work without any discrimination.

NAB is totally non-political institution having no affiliation with any political party or group. The first and last affiliation of NAB is with the people of Pakistan and the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The deployment of Rangers in NAB Lahore is essential for protection and security of Ahad Cheema and relevant record.

Indian troops initiates mortar fire in Nikayal sector

Farooq s/o Ali Akbar embraced Shahadat and 3 civilians got injuries. Injured have been evacuated to THQ Nakiyal. Pakistan Army target Indian post which initiated fire.

Marriyum inaugurates 3-day Art and Culture Festival

Islamabad, February 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): A three day Art and Culture Festival began at Pakistan National council of the Arts in Islamabad on Saturday. The festival comprises National Artists convention, which was kicked off on Saturday besides the CPEC cultural Caravan which is concluding on Monday. Inaugurated by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, the National Artist Convention is being attended by prominent figures from the arts and entertainment industry. On the first day of the convention, panel discussions took place on different genres of art including film, theatre, music, drama and fine arts. Addressing the opening ceremony, the Minister of State said that the convention is aimed at seeking inputs to empower the artists’ community.

She said efforts are being made to promote tolerance and harmony in the society. The Minister of State said that as a result of government’s efforts, security situation has improved and sports activities are reviving in the country. Film industry is also reviving which is a positive development. Marriyum Aurangzeb said as per vision of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, efforts are being made to revive our cultural heritage for promotion of tolerance and harmony in the society. She said that culture and film policies have been formulated in consultation with the provinces and other stakeholders and these will be announced at the concluding session of the three day festival on Monday.

The CPEC cultural Caravan is second part of the three day culture festival. This Caravan, which took Chinese artists on a sight-seeing tour from Xian in China to Gwadar in Pakistan documenting the cultural heritage along the length and breadth of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will conclude on Monday. Regretting the unfortunate neglect of artist community’s uplift in the past, she said it is time to reap the fruits of a stable and prosperous Pakistan and give our artists the maximum they deserve as they dedicate their whole life serving art.

She said the three-day cultural festival including Artists Convention and CPEC Cultural Caravan will project the real image of Pakistan as a peace loving country rich in art and culture. The CPEC cultural Caravan is second part of three-day culture festival. This Caravan took Chinese artists on a sight-seeing tour from Xian in China to Gwadar in Pakistan documenting the cultural heritage along China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. These Chinese artists will take part in the concluding ceremony of the Culture Festival on Monday where they will present their documentaries and short stories.

Indian ceasefire violations threat to regional peace, security: FO

Islamabad, February 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has lodged strong protest over unprovoked Indian ceasefire violations on Line of Control. Foreign office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control at Nikial Sector and Thurti Narr village resulting in the martyrdom of an innocent civilian while injuring three others.

In a statement, Foreign office spokesman Dr. Muhammad Faisal said ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation. The Spokesperson said that Indian forces during this year have carried out more than 400 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 17 innocent civilians and injuries to 68 others.
