Balochistan to set up tent-towns in Naseerabad division

QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili, has said that the government had decided to set up tent-towns in the flood affected areas of Naseerabad division so that flood affectees could be accommodated.

These views were expressed by him while chairing a high level meeting held here on Monday to review damages caused by recent floods and modalities regarding provision of ration to the affectees. Uqaili directed the concerned authorities to ensure providing ration to the rain and flood affected families, setting up medical camp in the affected areas and provision of other relief goods to the affectees.

Directing the concerned authorities to submit report of damages after assessing losses caused to human lives and properties, he also issued directions to the authorities of Communication and Works Department to ensure the restoration of highways and connecting roads so that ration and other basic items could be provided to the affected people easily. He said that illegal encroachments from flood channels be removed besides clearing the choked points.

He added that no negligence would be tolerated during relief operations, adding that strict disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against the negligent officers and officials. Meeting was attended by Secretary, Local Government, Dostain Khan Jamaldini, Secretary, Agriculture Department, Umeed Ali, Commissioner Naseerabad Division, Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai, Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts and other concerned authorities.
