NAUNDERO: Shaheed Major Mujahid Mirani Government Primary School in Naundero lacks fundamental facilities since a long time. The school has enrolled 750 little primary students where 20 Primary School Teachers have been posted to work as per sanctioned strength.
This is the school where a polling station is always established during LB polls, general elections while late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and late Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had exercised their right to vote in this school, said Mahinder Kumar, Headmaster of the school, here on Wednesday.
He said the school had no cold or warm drinking water facilities at all and he had to arrange ice from his home daily as he was living nearby. He said two cold water machines were lying idle as their compressors had been stolen. The school has 19 classrooms and most of the ceiling fans installed were dysfunctional due to the stay of flood victims recently, he added. The school furniture is outdated and there are no chairs for the teachers, and no alternative solar panels to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
He said that the building of the school was also in a very shabby condition as boundary walls had developed cracks which needed immediate repair and renovation. SMC fund of Rs25000 is given annually to the school which also needs to be revised, he added. Former MRD convenor Hussain Bux Narejo when contacted said that education is vital for a child to build his future as it brings light in darkness but in Sindh, it had been made a joke.
He said this school should have been made a model as Bhutto leaders cast their votes here which means it had attained a historical significance but it stood neglected during their own party’s rule which was highly heart-wrenching. He demanded that all the requirements of the school should be fulfilled forthwith enabling the students to get education in a proper environment.
