KHAIRPUR:,,, The journalists of Khairpur on Thursday announced a protest movement against the registration of a case against 22 journalists in Khairpur.
This was decided in a meeting chaired by Chairman Khairpur Journalists Union Ghulam Hussain Chang and President Jamal Mahmood Khuhro. The meeting was attended by a large number of journalists from different areas of Khairpur district. The meeting decided to stage a sit-in in front of the SSP Khairpur office on January 18 in the first phase.
In the second phase, a sit-in will be staged in front of the DIG Office Sukkur. A sit-in will also be held in front of the IG Office in Karachi in the third phase. The journalists said that SHO Hangorja Mushtaq Jatoi wanted to arrest journalists by declaring them as terrorists and is constantly threatening them with dire consequences.
They appealed to the Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice retired Maqbool Baqir and other higher authorities to take immediate notice of the matter and provide protection to the journalists.
