PAF: (PAF Hercules brings laurels to the country at royal air tattoo show 2018)

ISLAMABAD: It was a moment of joy for the PAF when PAF C-130 aircraft was adjudged runner up in the prestigious Royal International Air Tattoo Show-2018, at UK.

An aesthetically painted PAF C-130 was honored out of 300 aircraft in this mega show, says a statement issued here on Sunday.

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar khan, Chief of the Air Staff PAF also reached at the venue to witness the static display of the No 6 squadron’s Hercules.

He was briefed about the various photographs and paintings which have been put on display in the aircraft. He congratulated the PAF contingent for their excellent performance and raising the country’s flag high in the mega event.

Talking to the PAF contingent, he appreciated their efforts for achieving this honor and hoped that it would go a long way in projecting the soft image of the country across the world.

PAF C-130 stole the show with its attractive and artistically painted color scheme.

The participating military and civilian aircraft included USAF F-35A, French Air Force Rafale C, German Air Force Tornado IDS and RAF Red Arrows on display at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Earlier, the Air Chief attended Chief of the Air Staff’s Air Power Conference with a theme ‘Building the Next Generation Air Force’. The conference was the highlight of a week of events celebrating the Royal Air Force’s Centenary in London.

Senior Government Ministers, high-ranking officials and up to 60 international air chiefs from across the world attended the Air Power Conference.

Presently Air Chief is on an official visit of UK, on the invitation of Royal Air Force, to further boost the strong ties between two great air forces and friendly countries alike.

Dipl: (Pak envoy discusses regional, global issues with NS minister of Trinidad and Tobago)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Tariq Azim Khan, called on National Security Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Edmund Dillon at Port of Spain.

During the meeting, they discussed regional and global security situation as well as mutual cooperation in all areas of interest including national security.

The High Commissioner briefed the minister on social, political and economic developments taking place in Pakistan.

The minister for national security admired the hardworking and peace-loving Pakistani community living in Trinidad and Tobago.

ECP: (ECP committed to hold general elections on time: Spokesman)

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reaffirmed its commitment to hold forthcoming general elections on time and in free, fair and transparent manner.

Spokesman to the ECP Nadeem Qasim while talking to a news channel said that all preparations have been completed to conduct general election on time.

He said around 3,70,000 Pakistan Army personnel would be deputed inside and outside the polling stations across the country, while 17,000 polling stations have been declared sensitive.

He said CCTV cameras would also be installed at sensitive polling stations. To a question, he said international observers are coming to Pakistan to observe the whole process of general election. He said ECP is also providing accreditation facility to media and other organizations in this regard.

Dipl: (Kashmiri diaspora stage rally in Birmingham)

ISLAMABAD: British Kashmiris men, women and children have assembled at Victoria Square in front of Lord Mayor`s office in Birmingham to join the rally organised to pay tribute to all Kashmiri martyrs with special reference to the brutality of the autocratic Dogra ruler on 13th of July 1931.

Kashmiri representative, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, who is also Chairman of South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights, reiterated that the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs would be honored by completing the noble mission.

He said the remarks of UN Secretary General echoing UN high commissioner’s report and calling it the voice of UN is a slap in Indian brutal face. Meanwhile, Stewart Richards, President of Anti-War Coalition, expressed his solidarity and support to the self determination struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Fahim Kiani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, spoke about the militarization of the occupied state which is the highest militarized area of the world.

Politics: (PML-N postpones Swat meeting as nation mourns KP, Balochistan attacks)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has postponed its public meeting in Swat today (Sunday), due to national mourning over terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan.

Now the public meeting will be held tomorrow (Monday) that will be addressed by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif. Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif will visit Quetta today (Sunday) to condole with bereaved families of martyrs and inquire after health of injured of Mastung terrorist attack.

Dipl: (Pakistan hails first-ever accord at UN on Global Compact on Migration)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has welcomed the first ever agreement among UN member states to better manage international migration.

Speaking after the text of ‘Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration’ was finalized at the world body, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi said it will strengthen migrant rights and contribute to sustainable development.

She said the document draws a clear distinction between refugees and migrants and upholds human rights of all migrants regardless of their status.

She said we must now agree and undertake our shared responsibility for protection and realization of rights of all migrants, to fully realize the immense potential and to harness the benefits of regular migration.

The agreement will be formally adopted at an Intergovernmental Conference, which will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, in December.

Kulbhushan case: (Pakistan will submit reply in ICJ on July 17)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will submit its reply in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Tuesday pertaining to the case of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The reply will be submitted by Dr Fareha Bugti, who has reached at the Hague for the said purpose. She had also submitted Pakistan’s counter-pleading in December 2017.
