The Clean Karachi Campaign is clearing the waste of years: Murtaza Baloch

Karachi, September 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Human Settlements Ghulam Murtaza Baloch has said that garbage is being cleared from highways in the first phase during the Clean Karachi campaign and the garbage stored in years will also be cleared in the campaign. He said this while visiting various areas of District Malir under the Clean Karachi Campaign here on Wednesday.

On this occasion DC Malir Abdul Halim Jagirani and Chief Officer District Council Karachi Masrur Memon informed the Provincial Minister for Human Settlements Ghulam Murtaza Baloch regarding waste disposal and sanitation arrangements. The Provincial Minister also visited the areas of DMC Malir, Cattle Colony, Mehran Highway, Sher Pau Colony, Gaddafi Town, Hospital Chorangi, Husseini Chorangi, Younas Chorangi and adjoining areas. The provincial minister also reviewed the ongoing cleanliness in the district council areas, National Highway Wireless Gate and Gulshan-e-Hadid.

On the occasion, residents of Gulshan-e-Hadid told the provincial minister that despite taking a million rupees on monthly basis in the name of cleanliness from residents, Pakistan Steel Mills’ limited trust administration was not cleaning up. Provincial Minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch said that the work of garbage disposal including dung waste in the Bhens (buffalo) colony should be accelerated and important highways such as National Highway, Mehran Highway and Highway Faisal are being cleared in the first phase of the Clean Karachi campaign.

He added that the Sindh Government’s Clean Karachi Cleanliness Campaign will also clean old waste of years and the citizens of Karachi will soon see a pleasant change as Pakistan Peoples Party believes in the philosophy of serving the masses irrespective of their political affiliation.

Federal Government is seizing the rights of Sindh, we will fight against it: Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo

Karachi, September 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that the rights of the Sindh are being seized by Federal government. The Pakistan Peoples Party has always fought against the dictators and still we will do the same. He said this while talking to media men, reviewing the Clean Karachi Campaign here visiting Korangi along with the provincial minister for energy Imtiaz Shaikh on Wednesday.

He said that the Clean Karachi Campaign is taking place at the behest of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and all the ministers, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, are monitoring the campaign day and night. Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo further said that the PPP owns Karachi. Karachi is Pakistan’s economic hub.

Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo asked those, who are representing Karachi in National Assembly, dare to remind the Karachi package to the Selected Prime Minister. Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that the PPP is a pioneer in practical politics. We dwell among the public and those, who are criticizing us, are the people who have come from parachutes.

He said that we would clean Karachi from dirt and garbage. Conspirators will continue to do trash politics and our service politics will be seen all over the world. He said that what the select people will do for the people is a lie of themselves. Provincial Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that Karachi’s law and order situation has been restored and we will not allow it to be destroyed. Karachi is a mini-Pakistan. Trash-makers are also trapped in trash.

Deputy Commissioner Central must report his cleanliness activities and performance on daily basis: Rashid Hussain Rabbani

Karachi, September 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Political Affairs, Mr. Rashid Hussain Rabbani has said that there is no designated Garbage Transfer Stations (GTS) in entire district central. All GTS are temporary and situated on main roads. There is a dire need to designate places for GTS on scientific basis. Road carpeting and patch work on main roads and main streets are required. This he said during his visit to monitor the ongoing cleanliness drive “Clean my Karachi” on the directives of CM Sindh in District Central Karachi.

He was accompanied with, Provincial Minister Agriculture Mr Ismail Rahu, Deputy Commissioner District Central Karachi Farhan Ghani, DMC Chairmen Rehan Hashmi, Assistant Commissioner Zain Channa and other concerned officers and officials. Rashid Hussain Rabbani has directed Deputy Commissioner Central to report his activities and performance on daily basis as directed by CM Sindh. Negligence and carelessness will not be tolerated in performing the duties until achievements of desire targets set by competent authorities.

Provincial Minister Agriculture, Mr Ismail Rahu has said that district central is the largest garbage and waste producer district in Karachi. We need to eliminated garbage from every nook and canny of district central. We will also pay surprise visits to monitor the campaign. We also received some complains from administration side that they are lacking of funds we will convey these request to competent authorities in our reports that enhance the allocation of funds as the amount earmarked is very meagre as compared to the heaps of garbage piled up over the years.

Ministerial Meeting of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir held in New York

Islamabad, September 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Ministerial Meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir was held in the UN Building in New York today. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary General of OIC. The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Permanent Representative of Niger attended the meeting. Mr. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Foreign Minister led the Pakistan delegation. The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and other true representatives of the Kashmiri people were also present. The OIC-Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) also made a statement.

The meeting, for the first time, adopted a Joint Communiqué which reaffirms the OIC position and Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir and expressed deep concern over the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoJ and K). It welcomes the statement issued by UN Secretary General, of 8 August 2019. affirming that the position of the United Nations on Jammu and Kashmir is governed by the UN Charter, applicable UN Security Council Resolutions and bilateral agreements.

The Joint Communiqué also welcomes the UN Security Council meeting held on 16 August and affirms that Indian actions are inconsistent with International Law, UN Security Council Resolutions and India’s own solemn commitments to implement the UNSC Resolutions. It expresses grave concern over India’s actions aimed to change the identity and demographic composition of IoJ and K and to transform it from Muslim majority to a Hindu majority territory.

The Communiqué also deplores the extended lockdown of the Kashmiri people, round the clock curfew and complete communication blackout in IoJ and K and expresses serious concerns over the arbitrary detentions and arrests of thousands of people, including Kashmiri leadership, professionals and peaceful demonstrators and their transportation to prisons and detention centres outside IoJ and K.

The Contact Group deplores the indiscriminate use of force, live ammunition and use of pellet guns against unarmed civilian protestors and expressed deep concerns on lack of access to hospitals, medicines including lifesaving drugs and food supplies. It also expresses deep concerns on the abduction of young boys and their subjection to torture, inhuman and degrading treatment.

The Joint Communiqué conveys deep regret of OIC that India has not allowed the OIC, IPHRC and United Nations’ Fact Finding Missions to visit IoJ and K.

The Ministerial Meeting has reaffirmed its support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for realization of the inalienable right to self-determination and freedom from Indian occupation. It has also reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir remained an internationally recognized dispute by UN Security Council resolutions, the Secretary General and under numerous bilateral agreements.

It calls on the Human Rights Council to establish a Commission of Inquiry to investigate human rights violations in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and also calls upon India to allow full and free access to OIC, IPHRC and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to IoJ and K in order to independently investigate reports of the gross and systematic human rights violations taking place there.

The meeting in its Joint Communiqué declared that Jammu and Kashmir dispute remained the core issue between Pakistan and India and its final settlement, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and a UN supervised plebiscite is indispensable for durable peace and stability in South Asia and beyond.

Finally, the Ministerial Meeting demanded that India: rescind its unilateral illegal actions and reiterate its commitment to abide by the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. provide solemn assurances that it will not change the occupied territory’s demographic composition and not allow non-Kashmiris to acquire property or residency in IoJ and K.

halt its human rights violations in IoJ and K, including the use of force against peaceful demonstrators, especially pellet guns, lift the curfew, allow peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, release all political prisoners, activists and abducted youth; repeal its draconian emergency laws, and withdraw its heavy military presence from Kashmiri cities, towns and villages; and provide unhindered access to human rights organizations and international media to IoJ and K to ascertain and report on the situation in the occupied territory.

The Member Countries of the Contact Group also made statements in line with the Joint Communiqué. The True Representatives of the Kashmiri people presented a Memorandum to the Secretary General.

Communique of the Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir meeting on the sidelines of the 74th session of UN General Assembly New York

Islamabad, September 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir met on the sidelines of the 74th session of UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, 25 September 2019. The OIC Secretary General chaired the meeting.

Having heard a detailed briefing from the Foreign Minister of Pakistan over the recent developments in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir,

The Ministerial Meeting:

Reaffirmed the OIC position and Resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute

Expressed deep concern over the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ and K), as a result of India’s actions of 5 August 2019.

Noted the statement by Pakistan of 5 August, 2019 rejecting these illegal and unilateral actions.

Welcomed the statement issued by the UN Secretary General of 8 August 2019 affirming that the position of the United Nations on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is governed by the UN Charter, applicable UN Security Council Resolutions and bilateral agreements.

Welcomed the UN Security Council meeting held on 16 August, 2019 in response to Pakistan’s request to consider the situation arising from India’s actions.

Affirmed that Indian actions are inconsistent with international law, applicable UN Security Council Resolutions and India’s own solemn commitments to implement UNSC Resolutions.

Expressed grave concern that India’s actions aim to change the identity and demographic composition of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to transform it from a Muslim-majority state into Hindu-majority territory.

Welcomed the two Reports issued by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in June 2018 and July 2019, comprehensively documenting the gross and systematic violations of human rights in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Deplored the extended, months long, lockdown of the Kashmiri people, round-the-clock curfew and complete communications blackout in IoJ and K, and suppression of Kashmiris protestors who demand freedom from Indian occupation.

Expressed serious concern over the arbitrary detention and arrests of thousands of people, including Kashmiri leadership, professionals and peaceful demonstrators and their transportation to prisons and detention centres outside IoJ and K.

Deplored the indiscriminate use of force, live ammunition and use of pellet guns against unarmed protestors.

Noted with deep concern that the sufferings of the Kashmiri people have been exacerbated by lack of access to hospitals, medicines including lifesaving drugs and food supplies.

Expressed deep concern at reports of abduction of young boys and their subjection to torture, inhuman and degrading treatment.

Regretted that India has not allowed the OIC, IPHRC and United Nations Fact Finding Missions to visit Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Denounced attempts to equate the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for liberation from foreign occupation and their right to self-determination, with terrorism.

Having considered the aforementioned grave developments,

The Ministerial Meeting:

Reaffirmed its support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for realization of the inalienable Right to self-determination and freedom from Indian occupation.

Further reaffirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute, as recognized by UN Security Council Resolutions and the UN Secretary-General.

Called on the Human Rights Council to accept and implement the recommendations of UN OHCHR to establish a Commission of Inquiry to investigate human rights violations in IoJ and K.

Called on India to allow full and free access to the OIC, IPHRC and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in order to independently investigate reports of the gross and systematic human rights violations taking place there.

Declared that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is the core issue between Pakistan and India and its final settlement, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolutions and a UN supervised plebiscite, is indispensable for durable peace and stability in South Asia and beyond.

Demanded that India:

Rescind its unilateral illegal actions and reiterate its commitment to abide by the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.

Provide solemn assurances that it will not change IoJ and K’s demographic composition and not allow non-Kashmiris to acquire property or residency in Jammu and Kashmir halt its human rights violations in IoJ and K, including the use of force against peaceful demonstrators, especially the use of pellet guns, lift the curfew, allow peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, release all political prisoners, activists and abducted youth; repeal its draconian emergency laws, and withdraw its heavy military presence from IoJ and K’s cities, towns and villages; and provide unhindered access to human rights organizations and international media to IoJ and K, to ascertain and report on the situation in the occupied territory.

Directed their respective Permanent Representatives in New York and Geneva to periodically brief the UN Secretary General, Presidents of the UN General Assembly and UN Security Council, President of the Human Rights Council and High Commissioner for Human Rights on the evolving developments in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Requested the OIC Secretary General to send a copy of this Communiqué to the UN Secretary General and present a report on the situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to the Annual Coordination Meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers, being held on the sidelines of the 74th session of UNGA in New York on 27 September 2019.

Vows to solve the problems of industrialists on a priority basis: Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo

Karachi, September 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that the government will solve the problems, facing Sindh industrialists, on a priority basis to accelerate industrial activities in the province and to create new employment opportunities in the province. . This he said while presiding over a meeting in the office of the Site Super Highway Association of Industries here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by MD Site Zubair Pervez, Chief Engineer Site Rasheed Milano and other officers as well.

The meeting was also attended by the Site Super Highway Association President Raja Ilyas Shahanshah, Javed Ghori Hashmi Surma Wala and other industrialists. The Association gave a detailed briefing on the problems facing the industrialists. Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said, ‘The confidence of the industrialists has gone and restoring their trust is one of my top priorities’. He said that he would talk to IG Sindh on law and order situation in the industrial zones.

There are many complaints of illegal occupation of the industrial plots, in which case the site Judiciary along with the security staff will be enabled to handle the situation. Provincial Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo further said that the long demand of Site Super Highway was for supply of water and he would meet with Chief Minister Sindh for water supply and the issue would be resolved on priority basis. He said that wrong water billing to the industrialists is a regrettable process and in this regard MD site has been instructed that the MD water board should be contacted immediately.

He said, ‘The site’s legal team will be enabled to use the encroachment law against the occupation mafia as industrialists problems will be resolved , the situation would improve and the industrialists have a very important role to improve the economic situation. The move will provide revenue to the federal government, including the Sindh government.

The Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that the roads of the site Industrial Area are in bad condition and steps will be taken to improve these roads soon. He said that the site industrial area had been facing problems and for the purpose industrialists had to play a vital role in the improvement of the industry. Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo said that if any of the industrialists has a problem he is always there to help out, adding that facilities would be provided to the industrialists.
