Accountant General Sindh inaugurates Sindh GP Fund Centres in Dadu, Kamber Shahdadkot and Larkana

Karachi, August 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Accountant General Sindh, Mr. Ghufran Memon inaugurated Sindh GP Fund Centres in Dadu, Kamber Shahdadkot and Larkana today. AG Sindh announced that the Sindh GP Fund Centres will be established throughout all districts of Sindh by 31st August 2019. GP Fund cases of more than 500,000 employees of Sindh will be updated and computerized so that they may get their GP Fund payments without any hassle and delay.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raising the voice of the people of Kashmir at every available forum in a befitting manner: Saeed Ghani

Karachi, August 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Information and Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani in a statement on Sunday said that Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was raising the voice of the people of Kashmir at every available forum in a befitting manner. Saeed Ghani said the wishes of Prime Minister Imran Khan for the victory of Narendra Modi in the recent general elections of India hurt the emotions of people in Kashmir. While censuring the Prime Minister severely Saeed Ghani said that Imran Khan Niazi who had been desperate to contact Narendra Modi in the past was not able to fight the case of the people of Kashmir in the manner that was needed in these circumstances.

The Minister said that owing to the inefficient foreign policy of the incompetent Niazi regime the leaders around the world were not heeding us. Saeed Ghani asked, was it not a massive failure that we didn’t know what the Indian government was thinking? The Minister said that none of the friendly countries including the Islamic countries stepped up in Pakistan’s favor. He said that Imran Khan failed to rise to the occasion and demonstrate the kind of leadership expected by the Pakistanis and the Kashmiris.

While advising the federal minister for information and broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Minister said that just to cement her ministry Firdous Ashiq Awan should not deface the serious Kashmir cause. He said that she should no talk about corruption as when she herself had been facing references of National Accountability Bureau. Saeed Ghani said that victimization in the name of accountability had become the trademark of the inefficient Niazi government. The Minister said that the reputation of NAB had been severely damaged by the policies of the PTI regime. Saeed Ghani said that the resolution of Kashmir issue during the government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf seemed a Sisyphean task.

Foreign Minister’s telephonic conversation with OIC Secretary General

Islamabad, August 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): Continuing the diplomatic outreach, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today spoke again with OIC Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen to brief him on the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ and K). The serious risks to regional peace and security arising from India’s illegal and unilateral actions were also highlighted by the Foreign Minister.

The Foreign Minister shared a set of proposals with the Secretary General and exchanged views on OIC’s response, commensurate with the gravity of the evolving developments. The proposals inter alia included a renewed call on India to allow the OIC Fact Finding Mission to visit the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and convening of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir at the Ministerial level.

Secretary General Al-Othaimeen reiterated serious concern over the worsening human rights situation in IOJ and K, noting that the OIC will continue to play its role in support of and solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The Foreign Minister and the Secretary General agreed to remain in touch regarding next steps.

Sindh cabinet approves Sindh Women Agriculture Act 2019

Karachi, August 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Information and Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that to empower the women of rural Sindh the cabinet on Saturday approved Sindh Women Agriculture Act 2019. Saeed Ghani said that the Chief Minister termed the Sindh Women Agriculture Workers Act 2019 a historic Act. The Minister said this while addressing post cabinet meeting press conference on Saturday. The cabinet meeting was presided over by the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. According to the Chief Minister in accordance with the vision of Chairman Pakistan People’s Party this Act was passed to provide social security to the women workers, the Minister told. He said that the Chief Minister was of the view that albeit their role was not being recognized appropriately but the fact of the matter was that the rural women were central to agro-based economy.

Saeed Ghani said that this Act would certainly bring a positive change in the lives of the women of rural areas. The Minister said that the farm labor that women were engaged in played a vital role not just for the economy but also for their families. He said that the Act would be presented before the provincial assembly within a week of this cabinet meeting. After the passage of this act the rights of the women affiliate with the profession of agriculture would be guarded, he said. He said that according to the Act those affiliated with Cultivation, Fisheries, Poultry, and husbandry would be considered as agriculture workers.

The Minister told that would also be permitted to seek help from the endowment fund of Benazir Income Support Program. Saeed Ghani said that the cabinet meeting also discussed the formation of Benazir Women Support Organization. Saeed Ghani told the media that with an aim of simplifying the process of purchasing the essential medicines for the health facilities in Sindh the cabinet in its meeting formed a committee comprised of Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Agriculture Department Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Climate Change, Coastal Development, Environment and Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

He said that all the medicines available with the Health Department would immediately be provided to the health facilities across the province. Saeed Ghani told that the cabinet also keeping in view in the qualification and the age limit approved the regularization of the staff and faculty members of Khairpur Medical College. The Minister said that the cabinet also decided to confer the charge of the executive director of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre to a grade 20 Medical Officer. He said that according to a decision taken by the cabinet the management board of the teaching hospital would function under vice chancellor of the concerned medical university.

Saeed Ghani said that from now onwards the vice chancellor would preside over the meeting of the board of the teaching hospitals. The eleven member board besides looking after the day to day affairs would monitor policy plan and work for the improvement of services in the hospitals, he added. Saeed Ghani said that the meeting was briefed that at present there was no flood emergency in the province and the situation was in total control. The water flow at Guddu barrage upstream was recorded at 274,000 cusec against a discharge of 241,000 cusec, he added.

The Minister said that meeting was told that all the right and left bank dykes were being vigilantly looked after and spurs had been constructed at old Tori dyke. According to the Minister the cabinet also approved the formation of a 14 member governing body of Sindh Employees’ Social Security Imitation. He said that the cabinet also approved the establishment of Sindh Minimum Wage Board. The meeting also decided to forma an advisory council for the empowerment of disable persons. The Minister for Special Education Department would head the advisory council, he said. Saeed Ghani said that the meeting also approved the formation of an Information and Technology Board.

The Minister said that keeping in view the advancement in the field of technology an IT Advisory Committee would be formed. The Chief Minister for the establishment of Information and Technology Board formed a committee comprising of Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Mines and Minerals Department Mir Shabir Ali Bijarani, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Climate Change, Coastal Development, Environment and Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Secretary Finance and Secretary General Administration, he told. Saeed Ghani said that the cabinet in its meeting showing serious concern over the issue of malnutrition in the province also approved Sindh Food Fortification Bill 2019.

He said that the cabinet also approved the exemption of registration and stamp duty for Dawat-i-Hadya – a welfare organization being run by Bohra community. Saeed Ghani further informed that the cabinet also approved the establishment of a committee comprising of Minister for Forest Department Syed Nasir Husain Shah, Minister for Mines and Minerals Department Mir Shabir Ali Bijarani, and Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Climate Change, Coastal Development, Barrister Murtaza Wahab to present a draft of a sustainable forest policy with fifteen days of this meeting. The Minister informed that the cabinet also formed a committed to look into the usage of water for Irrigation and by Sindh Engro Coal Mines.

The committed would comprise of Minister for Irrigation Department Sohail Anwar Siyal, Minister for Energy Department Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Climate Change, Coastal Development, Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The committee would present its suggestions in the next cabinet meeting. The Minister further informed that the Sindh cabinet also approved Sindh Safe City Authority Bill 2019. The Director General of the Authority would be from the Police Department, he informed. Saeed Ghani told that the cabinet meeting also established the Cabinet Committee on Legislation.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, and Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Climate Change, Coastal Development, Environment and Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab would be the members of the committee he informed. He said that the committee would look into the matters pertaining to private bills. Responding to a question Saeed Ghani said that Sindh Minister for Local Government in a letter had briefed at length Ali Zaidi about Clean Karachi drive. The Minister said that the garbage of the city could only be dumped at landfill sites only.

Parks, grounds and other open spaces were not meant for the same, he added. Responding to another question said that those conspiring against Pakistan People’s Party in Sindh should learn from the recent by elections in Ghotki. He said that whenever people voted for Pakistan People’s Party the conspirators emerged. He told that the money submitted in the Supreme Court by the management of Bahria Town belonged to the Sindh government not the federal government. Saeed Ghani said that the federal government as promised earlier should pay 50 percent of the total cost for S-III and K-IV projects respectively, besides 1200 cusecs of water should also be made available for Karachi immediately.

Foreign Minister’s telephonic conversation with UN Secretary General

Islamabad, August 24, 2019 (PPI-OT): In line with the continuing diplomatic outreach, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today spoke with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to brief him on the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ and K). They also discussed the risks and dangers to regional peace and security.

Secretary General Guterres said that he was closely monitoring the situation and would remain engaged on the evolving developments. The Foreign Minister and the Secretary General agreed to remain in contact.

Foreign Minister writes to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Islamabad, August 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): As part of continuing diplomatic outreach, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has addressed another letter to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights drawing her attention to the several facets of the seriously deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ and K). The Foreign Minister’s letter highlights in detail the context and consequences of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019.

The letter articulates Pakistan’s deep concerns over the intensification in human suffering, further breach of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, and the dire humanitarian situation that has arisen as a result of India’s enhanced draconian measures to implement its illegal actions. The letter underscores that India’s actions constitute flagrant violations of the UN Charter, relevant Security Council resolutions, international law and India’s own solemn commitments.

The Foreign Minister has underscored the imperative for the world community, including the United Nations, to call upon India to rescind its unilateral actions, lift the curfew and other draconian measures, and restore fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Minister’s letter is being shared with the UN Security Council and all members of the United Nations. The Foreign Minister had earlier written to the High Commissioner for Human Rights on 4 August 2019 and also held a telephonic conversation with her on 8 August 2019.

In Sindh, there are 1175 Cooperative Housing Societies: Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo

Karachi, August 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo has directed to upgrade official website of Sindh Cooperative Department asking them to upload comprehensive data on the website, while in this regard Complaint Cell should be made more effective. This he said while presiding over a meeting of the department in his office on Friday.

Secretary Cooperative Department Akhtar Ali Burghari, Muhammad Ali Shaikh Registrar Cooperative Societies, Naveed Abbasi Deputy Registrar Karachi and other officers also attended the meeting. While briefing the meeting, Secretary Cooperative Societies Akhtar Ali Burghari told that there were as many 1175 Cooperative Societies across the province, out of which, 495 were in Karachi, 41 in Hyderabad, 10 in Tando Allayar, 12 in Badin, 41 in Thatta, 12 in Dadu, 34 in Jamshoro, 70 in Sukkur, 12 in Ghotki, 29 in N. Feroze, 51 in Khairpur, 12 in Nawabshah, 16 in Larkana, 113 in Shikarpur, 50 in Jacobabad, 19 in Kashmore, 22 in Mirpurkhas, 47 in Sanghar and 89 in Umerkot.

Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Societies Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo asked the officers to conduct awareness seminars and sessions on cooperative societies’ issues and perform their duties honestly, otherwise strict action would be taken against them according to the law. He asked Secretary Cooperative Societies to pay visits to the societies across the province and give him progress report.

He warned them that he would himself pay visits to the societies and would not tolerate any lethargic attitude of the officers in dispose of their duties. Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo added, ‘Good officers will be assigned so that they may give better results and they should cooperate with the people and facilitate them’. He directed the officers to cooperate with NAB and FIA in the cases, adding that no corruption would be tolerated in the department and those who were found involved in the corruption would be taken to task.
